The Order Notifications feature is designed to help you stay engaged with your customers through automated marketing and follow-up emails based on their ordering activity.

These notifications can be used for a variety of marketing purposes, including:
  • Recovering abandoned carts where a customer started but did not complete their order.
  • Following up on failed orders where payment was unsuccessful.
  • Thanking customers for their previous purchases.
  • Re-engaging customers who have not placed an order for a specified period of time.
  • Sending promotional offers after a customer has been inactive for a set period.
  • Encouraging repeat business through targeted follow-up campaigns.

Default Notification Setup

By default, the system includes:
  • 4 x Completed Order notifications
  • 3 x Abandoned Order notifications
  • 3 x Failed Order notifications
All notifications are created in a Non-Active state by default. This allows you to review, customise, and enable only the notifications that suit your business and marketing strategy.
Simply activate the notifications that are relevant to your customers and business objectives.

Customising Notifications

Each notification can be:
  • Edited to match your branding and marketing style.
  • Personalised using available merge fields.
  • Previewed before activation to ensure the message appears as expected.
We recommend reviewing all notification content and timing before enabling them.

Unsubscribe Compliance

To assist with email marketing compliance requirements, every notification email automatically includes an **Unsubscribe** link.
If a customer chooses to unsubscribe:
  • They will only be unsubscribed from order notifications.
  • They will continue to receive essential order-related and cart operation emails.
  • Their ability to place orders and receive important transactional communications will not be affected.

Notification Send Logs

To help monitor the effectiveness of your campaigns, notification send logs have been added to the **Email Module**.
The logs allow you to:
  • View when notifications were sent.
  • Track delivery activity.
  • Review historical notification records for troubleshooting and reporting purposes.

Best Practice

Start by enabling only a small number of notifications and monitor customer engagement. Once you understand which campaigns perform best, you can expand your automated marketing strategy using additional notification schedules and content.

You are not required to use all of the available notifications. Depending on your marketing strategy, you may choose to use only a few of them or none at all. Simply activate the notifications that are relevant to your business and customer communication goals, and leave the others inactive.

Notification Types

There are four trigger types available for Order Notifications. Each notification is sent based on specific customer order activity:
Order TypeDescription
Last Completed OrderSends only after the customer's most recent completed order. If multiple completed orders exist, the notification will be sent only for the latest one and not for previous completed orders.
All Completed OrdersSends after every completed order, regardless of how many orders the customer has placed.
Incomplete Order With No Later CompleteSends only when an order remains incomplete and the customer has not placed or completed any subsequent orders. This prevents reminders from being sent when the customer has already completed a later purchase.
Failed Order With No Later CompleteSends only when an order has failed and there are no completed orders placed after the failed order. This ensures customers who later complete a purchase do not receive unnecessary failed-order notifications.

Available Widget/Merge Tags

The following built-in merge tags can be used within notification subject lines and email content. These tags are automatically replaced with customer and store information when the notification is sent.
Widget/Merge tags

Merge TagDescription
{{FirstName}}The customer's first name from the order details.
{{OrderLink}}A link to the customer's most recent incomplete or failed order, allowing them to quickly return and complete the checkout process. This merge tag is intended for incomplete and failed order notifications and will not work for completed orders.
{{CompanyName}}The business name configured under Cart Config → Display → Wording → Display Business Name.
{{WebsiteLink}}Automatically populated with the URL of your website.
