How to Generate Auspost Account API key and password
Getting an Australia Post API key depends on which service you are integrating. For most e-commerce setups (like calculating shipping rates, generating labels, or tracking), you will be using the Shipping & Tracking APIs via the Australia Post Developer Portal.
Prerequisites
Before you start, make sure you have:An active Australia Post Business Account (with an eParcel or StarTrack contract number) OR a MyPost Business account. Your 10-digit Account Number (if it's shorter, you will pad it with leading zeros later).
To generate an AUSPOST API key and password.
Step 1:
Login into the https://developers.auspost.com.au
You should be able to use your existing logins. If you don't have a login, you will need to register.

Step 2:
Request API Access
- After login, go to My Account → API Access.
- Click Request Access.
- Select the APIs you want (e.g., Shipping & Tracking, Postage Assessment, Address Validation).
- Provide your Business Account Number (from your eParcel or MyPost Business account).
Step 3:
Approval by AusPost
- AusPost will review your request.

Fill in the details and follow the prompts
- If approved, they’ll enable your account for the requested APIs.
Step 4:
Get API Key & Password
Once approved, go back to My Account → API Access → View Keys.
You’ll see:
- API Key (username)
- API Password
These are the credentials you’ll use in your API requests (via Basic Authentication).
Step 5:
Test and Go Live
- You can first test using AusPost’s sandbox environment.
- Once your integration is working, switch over to the production endpoints with the same credentials.
Step 6:
Go to Cart > Configuration > Shipping > Methods > Australia Post Accounts
Fill in all fields. Admin Fee is not required.
Set Active to Active
